The Night Is Too Dark Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Night Is Too Dark

THE NIGHT IS TOO DARK

The night is too dark
And I am too tired
The day has been too long
And I cannot think
Time goes by
The darkness is with me
I cannot know
What to say

Silence is great
And silence may be holy
But there are times
One needs
More than this night

How can I begin
Darkness everywhere
Silence is not nothing
But I do not know what to say

Out of the silence
Out of the darkness
Out of the night
Morning has not yet come
