Spring comes
After the cold and the rain

The poems that do not know what they mean
Mean more than the poems that do

DESPAIR IS NOWHERE TO GO

Despair is nowhere to go
And nothing to do
...

SADNESS DOES NOT SAVE US /PAIN DOES NOT REDEEM

Sadness does not save us
Pain does not redeem
...

I DID NOT WAIT TO HEAR THE WORDS INSIDE

I did not wait to hear the words inside
I wrote my lines as I write them now
...

UNCERTAINTY LOVES


Uncertainty loves lying in bed in the morning
...

THE WORLD IS A SAD PLACE

The world is a sad place
It has too much loneliness in it
...

ONE HAS DONE ALL THAT ONE COULD DO

One has done all that one could do
Old and tired
...

THEY LAUGHED AT A MAN WHO GAVE HIS LIFE TO POETRY

They laughed at a man who gave his life to poetry
They dismissed it as nothing
...
