And the Guilt and the Sadness and the Regret

HOLDING ON IS NOT EASY

Holding on is not easy
I do not really know how I do it

Or write the poem I would have written-
The older I grow the more I become aware
Of all I could not do-
And how many I once scorned as my inferiors
...

To just keep going
Poetry helps me
It is helping me now

I had a dream

IF I SAY

If I say, “I am a poet who has been where no other poet has ever been before'
If I say “What I have seen and said, no one else has ever begun to dream”
...

With the whole day and the whole night
And who knows how many years before me-
It is all open and waiting
And here I am alone and uncertain-
