Facade Poem

When you look you will not see.
That there is a void in me.

Just beneath the surface it does lie.
It cannot be filled no matter how hard i try.

One piece at a time it devours my soul.
As if it were a massive black hole.

It's so big yet you cannot see.
The only one who knows it's there is me.

That it's there you will never know.
Cause it's something that i won't show.

I'll pretend that everything is ok.
And merrily go about my way.

You may detect sadness in my eyes.
But if you ask you will get only lies.

I'll tell you a joke or maybe flirt.
And you'll never know how much i hurt.

I'll convince you i'm happy as can be.
While on the inside it devours me.

You'll never guess that my smile is pretend.
Or know of this void with which i contend.

For i will tell you everything is fine.
And continue to hide this void of mine.
