Bloodshot Eyes Poem by Julian Austin

Bloodshot Eyes

The clock strikes three
Another hour wasted by
Looking for answers in the sky
Too many questions remain
On how I can escape from the pain
That 70's show fill the tv screen
So I'll forget of how things are mean
Caffeine keeps me awake
These disappointments I can no longer take
Right now I should be asleep
Praying for my soul to keep
I know tomorrow I'll feel restless
Due to the fact I'm sleepless
My eyes hurt from staring at the monitor
Waiting on that download to my mp3 player
I see you online I want to talk
Guess I'm not strong enough to take that walk
Everyone I know is away
They wouldn't hear me anyway
Right now I should be asleep
Prayin for my soul to keep
Sleep now would hit the spot
To hide my eyes bloodshot
Throw my pillow to the ground
Nothing is making a sound
Bed sheets cover the floor
Cant' stare at the ceiling much more
I'll eventually close my eyes

Great sorrow, fills each word I can imagine each sleepless night, your mind racing. Your not alone, this was how i spent me summer. And most nights, but i make myself get up real early for school so i only stay awake an hour or so before i pass out.
