Carry me away, back to the day.
Back to our fun and loving ways.
Back to the time when love used to shine
thru the rhythm and rhyme.
We made music sweet and fine.
Had nothin better on our minds.
Loved just driftin away thru time.
Oh carry me away!

Back to the songs with wine and roses.
Back when our hearts beat together so fine.
Thru the rhythm and rhyme

So many years have come and gone
Can we trust that the music will come back strong?
Will be you there when the melody is gone;
As my voice and my body slowly break down?
Or is it just the memory of - being carried away? Carried aw-ay, hey!

Oh come carry me today, just for one day.
As for tomorrow, come what may!
Make this our time when love can shine
thru the rhythm and rhyme.
Come make new music sweet and fine.
