You lick your lips
As red as a cherry
Your pearly white teeth
And eyes flashing merry
I stand to the side
As you talk to your lover
You belong to one man
And I to another
I sigh and I swirl around
A drink in my glass
I wonder how long this fancy will stay
And how soon it will eventually pass
I turn around to leave
Heels clicking with each stride
It's bad enough already
This is a lengthy aside
I step on the balcony
I breathe in fresh air
But I choke on your perfume
As you appear from nowhere
You walk up right next to me
And look down below
From your purse comes a cigarette
With your intention to smoke
I take out my lighter
And ask, ''Need a light? ''
You produce your own, however,
Saying, ''Nah, I'm alright.''
I shrug my shoulders
I'm ready to leave
But Love seems to have
One more ace up her sleeve
You stop me with ''Hey,
Thanks for the kind thought
Remind me again, what's your name?
I forgot''
I smile
''Don't sweat it, '' my voice falling flat
''Here's my card and my number
If you feel like a chat''
You smile, eyes dancing
I'm shaking inside
You take the card with you
And leave for the night

I lie down in bed
Feeling cold and in shock
A sudden text on my cellphone
Says, ''Hey, wanna talk? ''
