Clean Poem by Ross Lakes

Clean

Rating: 2.8

At seven, they said I had to blend
Half water with half cream.
But Vo5’s “No-Mix-Formula”
Was only 29 cents more.
And scarier yet, it sold!
That expensive stuff in hair salons, now,
Doubles as a facial cream,
“What the market will bear”
Has more meaning for me now.

Those frosty features on the shower drape
Are softer than the rock itself.
If nothing else, she’s clean.
But what’s needed still remains.
It’s not easy living with a girl with a
Perfect sense of smell.
I wore my shower out.

Questions: Should
Body sounds be muffled?
Does soap make sex?
Is sweat an evil thing?
Someday I’ll slip and she’ll find out
I study on the John.

A bee can waste her life
On crystal roses,
Her death
On harmless, perfumed skin.
