Dance for Me
Come dance for me on my tended grass
Just over here, quite near the path
Beside the flowers so red and white
Before the day turns into night
I'll just lie here and feel the beat
On the ground, from your feet
For my hearing has been lost a while
Along with hope and cheerful smile
Now prance your presence here today
Which others may watch and maybe say
Something that I will never know
As you give your little show
Forgive me if I seem unmoved still
I didn't want to leave, was ill
Above me now you will ever be
My dying hope that you'll visit me
Not just to leave more flowers in place
But to dance again with youthful grace
Ignore the ones who stop and frown
Their turn will come, under ground.
