I Don't Believe You Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

I Don't Believe You

Talk a good game still think that you are full of it
Play a bad game the score tallies up the count of it
life's a game as the player makes it to the end
but in this very scenario wouldn't get a win
without the warmth of the sun A flower can't grow
thorns stung heartbreak, tears, relinquishing fears
promises of the past would have held you near
rules no longer stand the laws have been broken
criminal in the chair at the present moment
tales traveling down the road to somewhere
satisfaction approaches closer with every detail
sing me your lullaby that put you to sleep
dig yourself a grave for your guilt to keep

Don't believe not one word that you say
Can't listen to you try and plead your case
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
When you were with me I loved you above all.
Circumstances completely broken our thrall
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.

So you feeling lonely now
convinced yourself I'll come around
wait for the chance to happen in hell
Elevator went into the ground
I won't fall for that, no
You can not warm the heart
Words so sweet but taste of sour
It wasn't ever love
so why care now?
Cold winters night
softest place on earth
found there wrapped in another arms
since the grass was greener
let that fire keep you warm

Don't believe not one word that you say
Can't listen to you try and plead your case
When you were with me I loved you above all.
Circumstances completely broken our thrall
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.
No, I don't believe you.

Shouldn't have to tell you to do much better
commitment takes putting in a little effort
heart wasn't in it before then it will never
An illusion of a dream that was once captured
back in the days when the moments were happier
what do you think you're doing?
is it me you think you're fooling?
first offense taught me to be careful
no need to consider a chance
you plus me only equals disaster
N is for never O is for opened to a possibility
governed by the principles of pleasure
that make someone more vulnerable
