Islands Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Islands

I

Two islands stare across
the separating sea

in which the heavens lie
clouds, stars, the sun.

Below the waves, deep below,
the joining land in its darkness glows.

II

Outward-bound travellers all
time and time again embark

on selfless journeys in their small
moving ships into the dark.
