It once was said that apathy is now
The strongest ally of a reigning peace,
And if one thinks of this awhile somehow
It may not seem to be a strange caprice.
To take up arms and thus conduct warfare
Requires of each combatant exercise
Of mind and body oft beyond repair
Some politicians' aims to realise.
Perhaps the purpose of our lives would best
Be served by apathetic shrug and twist
Of lip, to indicate no wish to test
The aim of a political activist.
Perhaps these all unlikely words of mine
May prove to be prophetic late in time.
