On My Own
By Annmarie Fox©

Here I sit on my own
Alone in the refuge
The place I now call home
Residents come and residents go
Their feelings in tatters
Their hearts are on show
They cover the bruises
And try to hide the pain
But here in the refuge
We all suffer the same
One day I will leave here
Venture out on my own
I will have to leave the place I now call home.
