Shine A Light Poem by Hannah Davies

Shine A Light

I cry for you at night
Hoping that you will shine a light.
To help me find my way
Until night becomes day.

I stare into the stars in the sky
And find myself asking the same question, why?
Why did you have to be taken away?
Why does it have to be this way?

I talk to you in hope that you can hear
And I ask for you to always stay near.
How I wish you were here right now
But I guess that's me being a selfish cow!

Sometimes I sit and picture your face
All the thoughts in my head begin to race.
At times all I want is to be with you
To accomplish that, I know what I need to do.

But then I hear a voice inside
'Stay and live your life with pride'.
These few words which mean so much
I know it's you with your gentle touch.

I know you don't want me to feel so sad
But I didn't get to say good-bye and for that I feel bad.
It's so unfair that out time together was cut short
But I remember all the love into my life you brought.

You were needed in heaven up above
And I know you will continue to surround me with your love.
All I ask is when I cry at night
That you will continue to shine a light.
