Soap Poem by Warren Augustus de Guzman

Soap

How did you slip through my fingers
just now, the touch of you still lingers
I peep through my sore, squinting eyes
to see where you fell or where you might lie
Like sands I try to hold and grasp
but never get a chance to clasp.

I hold and smother you on to me
and let your lather smolder me
A second ago with you in my hand
A second more and we disband
Like sands I try to hold and grasp
but never get a chance to clasp.

I seek a means to chain your soul
but rope and chord do not stay whole
I reach to take you from the ground
but you slip to where you won't be found
Like sands I try to hold and grasp
but never get a chance to clasp.
