Soundtrack Poem by Linda Hepner

Following the shapes around
Moving, morphing without sound,
Drifting, sinking, rising, leaving,
Smiling, nodding, not believing
That the moving earth moves me
Though the buds on every tree
Will blossom… tantalizing scent
Wakes up longings never spent.

Colorblind I wish to know
What makes blackened wild Van Gogh
Paint so thickly, did he see
Earth as solid, viscous Brie
Tasting sharp? What made him pant
After wheatfields, would he grant
Me a taste of missing joy
Of his vision? And was Troy

Blazing silently and gray,
Did the dawn fade after day,
Were the mouths that formed a Scream
Only holes to hell? My dream
Is that suddenly, Sassoon
In his trenches hears the tune
Heralding a bursting Spring
And grants to me that utter fling,

An utter racing of my heart,
No longer keeping me apart
From the morphing soulless shades
Silent in their shadow glades…
Suddenly awake, they sing
And cry and scream and everything
Around vibrates with music, song,
Words and color dance along,

Sunrise rosy, blossoms pink,
Cornfields yellow, I shall drink
Every dropp of purple wine,
Bite red apples, tart and fine,
Skip and play the clarinet
Or the fiddle, better yet,
Every mood and every thought
With my soundtrack I shall sport.

Come with me and be my love,
Green below and spheres above.

This is a beautiful depiction of a stream of consciousness under the impact of colours and sounds. Very sophisticated writing and very musical. I love this piece, Linda. It has a subtle charm. Susie.
