It was hot.
Then there was a week of rain
And when it was over
The summer had gone.
Just like someone had thrown a switch.
The days were cooler
And the golden light of evening
Came on shortly after lunch.
At Monster Mart the tables are stacked high
With down jackets and water proof coats
It is the time to consider rubber boots
and extra socks.
But that was in the past when I had children to think of.
I have all the cloths I will need for the rest of my life.
And the memory of many summers to keep me warm.
