The Gap Poem by David Brooks

The Gap

On the pond path by Campbell’s
amidst the wheel-ruts and the fallen leaves
a gap nothing fills

it gets late

birds
cross in the half-light
lugging their haul toward Tumut
Bimberi
Kosciusko
the great lake of silence beneath them

flight after flight after flight
