West Country Girl Poem by Gary Lewis

West Country Girl

We met on the blindest of dates

Chatting virtually for weeks, realising our fates

Me somewhere abroad, you in the South West

Waiting in anticipation of a visit to your nest

I could not wait to meet after sampling your voice

Seeing you in flesh made my soul internally rejoice

Your west country welcome brought to me tears

Based on previous experiences which would leave me with fears

You relaxed my jittery psyche with escalating affection

A far cry from my accustomed rejection

Your face the most stunning I ever seen

A face more suited for the silver screen

You gave me the ultimate in true romance

Hoping it was a never ending dance

Your ardent love was new for my Nubian soul

Shattering my macho man- made self control
