What Kind Of Love Poem by Tondalaya Jefferson

What Kind Of Love

What kind of love...
Keeps you scared and nervous when you hear the door crack and the sound of his boots.
What kind of love...
Got you lying to ya kids about daddy's game of love taps.
What kind of love...
Has you seeing stars and I'm not talking the good ones I'm talking about the ones that come after a heavy blow
What kind of love...
Has you begging him to stay when your down on your knees praying he'll leave
What kind of love...
Keeps you blind to the damage he's done and I'm not just talking physical I'm talking the little ones
What kind of love...
Keeps you missing time from work for fear of embarrassment or change
What kind of love...
Allows you to find your way through the ER with ya eyes closed
What kind of love...
Has you answering yes sir and no sir when you should only be somewhat submissive to a man who wants to take care of you, not a man who wants to violently take care of you when you get home
What kind of love...
Keeps you away from you family, the root of your being for years on end.
What kind of love...
Turns the most sacred of love into rape
What kind of love...
Puts and animal before you. He'll walk with his dog but not with his wife...two steps behind at all times
What kind of love...
Has you six feet under and now I begin to wonder what kind of love...
