Stephanie Campbell Poems

Walking through the snow, fresh footprints left behind,
That’s all that’s left, there’s no other trace to find.
A decision to make, but how can I decide.
What is my purpose, the answer to all the questions inside?
...

Why me Lord? Why not someone else?
Why did You choose me as someone to help?
My family is happy, my parents in love,
My brother and sister neither push nor shove.

Purpose

Walking through the snow, fresh footprints left behind,
That’s all that’s left, there’s no other trace to find.
A decision to make, but how can I decide.
What is my purpose, the answer to all the questions inside?
Only one path to choose, the other forgot
But what if I choose the one that is not,
My destiny, my fate, my chance, my purpose?
If the wrong one is taken, can I resurface?

Boots scuff the snow, a figure appears,
He is right on time, I am almost in tears.
A hand on my shoulder, he lifts up my chin,
“My child, ” he says, “Why don’t you come in?
It’s cold out here, and your face is red,
Why don’t you come, sit by the fire instead? ”
I lift up my eyes, but I can’t go in yet,
I haven’t got any answers, and my mind is set.
He takes my hand, and begins to lead,
“But I need the answers, a purpose! ” I plead.

I begin to turn away and He doesn’t resist,
I dropp His hand, His presence dismissed.
I run to the woods, so that I can be alone,
Wanting and thinking I can do this on my own.
I slip on some ice and start to go down,
But He catches me first, with an arm around.
Now back on my feet, He lets me go,
I look in His face and somehow I know.

We stand in the cold as the snow swirls past,
And I’m sure for a moment. I have peace at last.
There in His look, the love is so clear,
“I have the answers, it’s simple my dear,
This life is a journey, with a glorious end,
And on your path you will have many bends.
This road is narrow, and at times you may stray,
But because of the cross, with me you will stay.
Your steps have been written, with my Father’s pen,
But you have the choice of where you will end.
The purpose you seek are the steps in between,
The words on that page, to you are unseen.

“You see, each little journey, and days that don’t last
Are part of your purpose to keep you on task.
As long as you walk with your hand in mine,
You will follow your purpose, and do it just fine.”
He lifts up His arms, to signal He’s finished,
And I realize my doubts have all been diminished.

Now I am ready, and so it’s time to go in.
We can sit by the fire, stay out of the wind.
I know now my purpose, and it’s to live for Christ,
I will count the cost, and do what is right,
In all that I do, I will consult with Him,
And ensure that I’m living with Jesus within,
So no matter where I end up, or what I do,
I am sure that I’m doing what I’m supposed to.

So with my arm in His, I get back in step,
I know what I’ve learned I will not forget.
We head to the house, the warmth, and the fire,
With His words in my heart, I know I’ll inspire
A faith in His people, intent in their lives,
So they won’t have to search, struggle or strive.

We walk on in silence, my journey complete,
We come to the door; wipe the snow off our feet,
And with smile on my lips that was not there before
I enter the house and pull closed the door.
