Tanmayi Mukundan Poems

Close your eyes, my angel,
For now, you will see,
The wonderful, peaceful world
That once used to be.
...

I wish I were a star, that twinkled away far
To give you all the light, morning, noon or night
...

She wanted to be back home
To the warmth of her bed so nice
Thinking of it was so comforting
And so, she closed her eyes
...

The smile of an infant
Shows familiarity and trust
While the smile of a toddler
Shows innocence at its best
...

Hold on to my hand
And I will take you where
The sun brightens your path and
The rain washes your sorrows bare
...

All the while I knew
The breathing that I do
Was going to be taken away
But never felt this soon
...

Wearing a frock, with two pigtails,
A young mischievous girl was I,
With a twinkle of innocence in my eyes
And a spirit of happiness so loud and high
...

Glittering like pretty diamonds
Are the rays on the morning dew
Or the fresh breeze drifting across
The green paddy fields so new
...

A twinkle of happiness in times of gloom
A flickering candle in a darkened room
A shoulder to cry when in despair
A blink of hope when, in doubt, I stare
...

Like a shrill cry in a silent fight,
The phone rang in the dead, one night
Falling off my bed, suddenly with fear
I picked it up as if it was a nightmare
...

In a town known for its fanfare,
Resides the famous Charlotte Club
Open to both young and old,
And budding talents to try their luck
...

</>She closed her eyes to find some peace
In the memories of each passing day
Holding back failed tears
Looking for any small hopeful ray
...

What is good about the bye?
When I can see you not
When there is absence of your warmth
And your memories is all I've got
...

The night's asleep and so is everyone
Except the ticking clock, which though
Itself moves ahead with the wind
But pushes me back on my bough
...

15.

Asking my heart “Why are you sad”
Thinking of lost opportunities I wish I had had,
Filling my heart but drying the eye
For none to see or hear, I cry
...

If I ever were a butterfly
So colorful and bright
I’d sit on the prettiest flower
And give you the most wonderful sight
...

Freedom to breathe on my own
Freedom to laugh when I want
Freedom to cry my heart out
All I ask is this little bit of freedom
...

And here again I silently weep
My pillow hearing my muffled cries
You see me of love, laughter & pride
But hollow i am, staring blankly at skies
...

19.

Being alone in a house full of people
Into your thoughts you go deeper & deeper
Cooped up in yourself trying to breakfree
Nowhere to go except your room doors three
...

How do you send your children away
And let them fly on their own, little bird?
To learn, to live, to fend for themselves
For greener pastures, open in the wild.

The Best Poem Of Tanmayi Mukundan

Close Your Eyes, My Angel

Close your eyes, my angel,
For now, you will see,
The wonderful, peaceful world
That once used to be.

Close your eyes, my angel,
In that world, you will feel
Gentle hands of love and
Laughter, for wounds to heal.

Close your eyes, my angel,
Your feet will take you where
No angel has ever returned from
And no pain shall trouble you there.

So close your eyes, my angel,
Here, your memories shall remain just
For that was where you came from
And that is where you shall rest!

Thank you very much for letting me use your poem. I have written about a minute of the piece since I got your email, so I'm roughly a quarter of the way done. I think it sounds quite beautiful and the music compliments the text quite nicely. Once I finish I will send you a PDF of the score as well as the audio file. Hopefully when I finish the piece you will enjoy the piece as much as I do. Is there a better way to reach you so I can send you the score and music? It says that you have disabled messages from being sent to you. Thanks again, Curtis

Hello Tanmayi Mukundan, I am a composer from Michigan and I was wondering if it would be okay to set your text of Close Your Eyes, My Angel to music. It would be a choral piece, and I would really like to use your work. Sadly this is the only way I know of to contact you, but let me know what your thoughts are and if I have your permission.
