The Dark

The Dark Poems

What dreams have passed me by this still and lifeless night
To take me, drifting and unnoticed, by their deception
Into this long and endless journey into flight
Never having conception
...

Yes, you speak of hope
But I’ve hoped so many times before
Held it in my hands like a fragile flower
To watch it wither and die as it fell to the floor
...

It’s the nights that are worst
When those you love have to go away
You silently beg and plead for them to stay
Once again, you feel cursed
...

That silent song that’s in your heart
The one that makes you weep.
That tears at all that’s good in you,
Makes everything seem bleak.

Judgement

What dreams have passed me by this still and lifeless night
To take me, drifting and unnoticed, by their deception
Into this long and endless journey into flight
Never having conception
Or redemption

Judged by the frailty of a fickle mind
Guilty as charged I hear it say
To see no pity or compassion of any kind
The eyes are dead; the skin is pale and grey
Just fade away

Locked in the chains no mortal man can break
Life rests, a burden, so young and yet so old
Self loathing in that heart you can awake
Disgust, revulsion, is all that you can hold
It’s growing cold

And so, with one soft tear the silence breaks
When all the words so spoken have been said
The sacrifice, so futile, that it makes
The ones that stay behind have hearts like lead
The child is dead.
