Hope Lies Bleeding Poem by The Dark

Hope Lies Bleeding

Rating: 5.0

Yes, you speak of hope
But I’ve hoped so many times before
Held it in my hands like a fragile flower
To watch it wither and die as it fell to the floor
And see it walked upon
By those who never care
It turns to dust as I reach out with my pain
To hold it once again, but I never really dare
So I wear my veil of tears
And I wear my painted smile
And to all the world, I’m not so bad
She’ll be OK in a while

Yes, you speak of hope
But hope lies bleeding
Cut down by some evil I can never name
A sacrifice to those who are needing
As their fulfilment brings me shame
Take what you want
I have nothing left to give
And the things that I would die for
Are the reasons that I live
Hope is a mist
That I can never hold
And to think that it is there for me
Is to embrace all that is cold

Ah! Yes, you speak of hope
But already, it is ashes on your lips.
