Did you see me slip from your hands
Did you see me roll off your knees
Did you hear the bump
...

It was a life or death leap.
His determined feet pound rhythmically behind my tail
Heart pounding, I scurry across the path.
The rush of his feet on the leaves nearly as fast as the beat of my catheart

It's not true, what they say
That once you're dead, you're dead.

Mother, Did You See Me?

Did you see me slip from your hands
Did you see me roll off your knees
Did you hear the bump

Did you see me adrift in the endless sea
blind, aimless, wondering?

Did you feel the emptiness, the void?
Why did you not save me?

Did you not hear my cries?
Did you not see my tears?
Did you not feel my pain?

But you're mother!
