You are,
the first and the last
the beginning and the end

I look at you with eyes of wonder
as you chirp, squeak, whistle, and buz
and flap your wings incessantly
empteen times in the flicker of the human eye

O northeasterly dust-laden cold wind
daughter of the Great Sahara Desert
they call you the good, the bad, and the ugly
while I call you ‘Mystery', hidden in haze and fog

Stare not at me
