Beyond a tolerable measure
Might kill your spirit, break your heart
And cause a lot of suffering, I'm sure.

What really indeed is this life?
An endless chain of trial and strife
All that you'd deeply long to remain
Merely mocks and ends in pain

If your worn out heart, mid trials and woes
Finds not peace nor repose, but feels gored,
By a thousand snares, and in despair
Lose not hope, take it to the Lord!
...

Start the morning with a whisper
A silent simple prayer-
He'll see you through the day
Tend you with loving care.
...

It all needs but a moment
To wear a smile on face,
And cheer a gloomy place.
...

Life! a tough battle I must fight
Right from the beginning all alone;
The enemy is strong, nears the night
And many a wound have I borne.
...

Remember man that you're strife-torn
Right from the moment you were born!
The blessing upon others poured
Has not destiny for you stored.
...

Life is like a lonely star
That shines in the darkness of the night
Which the assailing rays of dawn
Cause disappear from the sight.

Life, heartless destiny's chessboard
Where it creates the king and clown
Where it reigns as sovereign Lord
Lifting you up and tumbling me down!

Give me strength to bear all bitter
Deeds and remarks that come along
Give me strength to lift me up when I fall
And trudge on with a joyous song.
