Give me strength to bear all bitter
Deeds and remarks that come along
Give me strength to lift me up when I fall
And trudge on with a joyous song.

Give me love to forget all wrong
That others have, I think, done me
Give me love to open wide the heart
Even to those who pierce it cruelly!

Give me joy in my heart to sing on
Even when sorrow brims over
Give me joy to open my lips in smile
Even when tainted with pains colour.

Give me light to tread along
The path that you have traced me
Give me light to see and distinguish
Light from dark and meet you finally.

Give me hope to go on even when
Vain seems to indulge in any hope
Give me hope to clutch blindly on
This hope till my feeble beatings stop.

Give me grace to humbly seek
For offenses sincere pardon
My brother in rage or carelessness
By word or deed I've done.
