A tiresome pride that is begetting the fall?

They stood and watched
Their life was torn away
Everything they love was torched
In the fire, the night was like day

If my heart should forget
Where my feet once tread
If my veins no longer regret
The way they once bled

A pale shadow hangs over the light,
An ethereal luminosity only seen at twilight.
It brings peace, a calming peace to one's chest,
A reminder that in this busy world, one still needs to rest.
