I See You Child... Poem by Ashley Jarrett

I See You Child...

Rating: 5.0

I see you child,
You sleeping so peacefully,
Wrapped in sweet innocence,
Smiling in your dreams so blissfully.
You are so young and sweet,
With so much ahead of you,
I wonder the obstacles you may meet,
The sort of life you will lead,
As I gaze upon your face.
I long to gather you into my arms,
Need to protect you from this life,
Shield you from all possible harm.
Yes, I see you child...
And I wish,
That your troubles be mild,
That your days be more sunny than blue.
I wish you to be blessed from above,
To always walk with happiness,
May you be cloaked always in my love.
Yes,
I see you,
sleep well,
my beloved child.

Well written and very touching in it's tenderness. There is nothing like the feeling.

This piece reads very well, it is full of good rhyming phrases and I liked the repetition of the phrase - 'I see you child'. It brought the subject home to the reader in a tender image, and I was quite with you Ashley in looking at your sleeping child. You write with strength and certainty. A ten from me and fondest wishes. I have added this to my favourites as a beautiful love poem to a child - have you read my Child's Email to God? you might like that one. fond wishes from Fay.
