For the longest time, I couldn’t touch you.
Looking back, it all makes sense,
But until that night no dream of mine came true.

Broken Promises boil in the recesses of a storm,
Churning in the gray mind, the sadness.
Is this the worst thing?

Drowning in a place
Drowning in emotion
Extend a hand for me
Or do you not know me?

The love song playing on the radio serenades me
And I think only of you, your embrace.
My eyes close and I’m taken away
To be with you, to hold you.

Nobody can know this pain I bear
As I watch the couple walk together
He closes his eyes
And kisses her forehead.

A wailing, a screaming, a ripping inside
It happens too often and I’m losing my grip
An infested stinking vortex of hate
Consumes the love I try to plant

An ancient little man with wrinkles in his skin
Toiled up a mountain, calling upon strength within.
His breath was quick and his muscles strained,
His legs were weary and his chest was pained.
