Cliff Phiri Poems

Woe to them...
Who made us jump, sit and wait
Without reason.
People who got us packing bags just to unpack.
...

My Jesus
Born by a virgin.
Who can imagine?
Beyond human comprehension he is.
...

Machines work and rest, the heart is restless.
Magnets attracts with distance; but love is unseasonal.
Feelings go, love remains forever.
Human days are numbered; but love is unmeasurable.
...

Pain is just but a motivation.
Though my foes seem many, they are not too many.
My skin is salty.
My eyes are all fire.
...

His words are sour.
The waist has fallen to the thighs.
Morals were thrown into the trash.
His words are moisturised with curses.
...

Behold the morning.
With a refreshment.
Much promising.
Under the bright light of the sun.
...

An overloaded heart, a silent mouth, an open grave.
A world with people yet without people.
A test of isolation.
Steaming tears all over.
...

Two things life seems not to offer; rest and peace of mind
Being a fruity tree is dangerous; more stones on you.
What you see they do not see.
What you feel they do not feel
...

A prudent heart is the maker of peace.
To observe signs is that you be forearmed.
To understand times is to live victorious.
...

Rising to the mountain top is good.
Getting out of a pit is for champions.
A reward is for conquerors.
The crown is for finishers.
...

I am a poor man.
My eyes are always on the ground.
My ears hear no good news.
Im totally visionless of the future; i go where the wind goes.
...

Through the lifeless deserts we've passed. Hopeless, faithless and so much more.
Scars of betrayal embroidered our backs.
Unfriendly friends were all over.
Had it not been for the Grace....
...

Gone are the days
Or
I should say
'the days are gone'
...

The place of liberty and glory
Seemed a myth.
So the sound of freedom was all we needed.
...

My heart is weary,
Filled with twigs and dirt.
Weedy and wounded.
Again in dire need of a purge!
...

Let them eat
but never let them sit.

Beat,
...

Lower your shoulders for the worried soul.
Do not despise the teaching of yesterday.
Let your shoulder be a pillow to the crying heart.
Is there any benefit? -being filthy rich yet without love.

The Best Poem Of Cliff Phiri

Cha Sho Tao

Woe to them...
Who made us jump, sit and wait
Without reason.
People who got us packing bags just to unpack.

I mean:

People who told us of hell
And never the existence of Heaven.
They told us not to sin,
But never taught us how sweet it is to live righteous!

How they would beat me
Whenever I failed my algebra....
Made the Cha Sho Tao known to me even in sleep;
But none bothered to tell me the way to a peaceful and prosperous life.

'Contaminated water kills'
We were taught...
But
The patterns to eternity they never said.

Behind me are thousands
Ignorant of their purpose in church
Because all they were told was,
'Sundays are for church services'
Full stop!

I always got to school on time
In fear of punishment...
To this day, the real value of time I do not know!

They made us believe in the non-existent,
See the invisible
When they knew what really matters!

to be continued....

Cliff Phiri Quotes

It is by Choice that you use a Chance that will Change your life

A life without a vision is lifeless.

Magnets attracts with distance; but love knows no boundary.

It is never about starting well, but finishing well

Envolvement brings committment.

If hardworking is all needed to prosper, show me a rich donkey.
