Walking briskly summounting every risk
With head up straight to avoid any break
Led by things read, said and heard
To reach as light and not as lead

For more than once in our lives, we've tasted defeat
And with tears sworn to that no repeat
With the flame of determination, we worked, employing all the heat
To give them their meanest beat

Knowingly, he walks in at six, so ignorant
Into a place called a classroom
So Ma told him
Wide eyed, but not so eager to learn

His eyes sparkled
like stars
Not of delight, no
With tears
...

Why he does it, you do not know
Perhaps Tattered Trousers himself has no idea why so
It hurts you, what he's done
But to him it was some fun
...

I want to be smiling When it's time to retire
From the job assingned by my Maker
And by fellow man
I want to be smiling and it shouldn't be a satire

Pollen rains
Fall when the time's ripe
