Herman Hoyte Poems

What great passion the sea exerts, as she crashes into the sand
What love the sand exhibits as he calls, with outstretched hand
Spray rises up and waves crash down, when she races to his side
Then vigorously they embrace each other, knee high in the tide
...

There I go, my head again
Thinking things, cant comprehend
Twisting round what I can pretend
trying to guess my mysteries end
...

I am troubled
mind stirred and rattled.
Rattled by nothing.
Troubled by tranquility.
...

Poised at the edge the jumper stands
Gazing down at the rocks below
Arms stretched out, with open hands
A dramatic pose, a dramatic end
...

I extended my hands
Took hers in mine
Guided my arm
Gently around her side
...

Just because I play dumb
Doesn't mean that I am stupid
Just because I fake ignorant
Doesn't mean I do not know
...

You know what needs to be done
As you strive to stay on track
Looking on the goal
Trying not to quick glance back
...

Spent too long being what others need me to be
bending into shapes not meant for me
stretching to fill gaps till I rip and bleed.

Too many times don't try to get what I want
...

A class of jumbled players
marching through the script
parading on the stage
reciting what is writ.
...

Amongst the swirling turmoil,
Confusion, and change
One golden moment
A splash of the sane
...

Flirting with a dream
Toying with the night
Imagining in midnight thoughts
What's only seen in morning light
...

I've been stripped of my goals, hopes, and dreams.
I've been stripped of my abilities and opportunities.
All I have left is my thoughts and my tears.
Left wondering lonely for years and years
...

Its times like this
where I'd prove I exist,
and question common sense.
...

I wrote my word in blood.

she etched sand with her shoe
...

Empty promises writ in youthful sands
cheerful bliss shaded by child hands
washed away by cruel Future's tides
for only in stone, a lasting oath resides
...

I cannot pretend to be what I'm not.

I want to change from not to am.
...

Thoughts of pointlessness break through the walls
order and meaning flee as motivation falls

long has the castle held out
...

What do you do when all order has gone away?
When mental riot is here to stay?
Wallowing in scuttling coals, drowning in thorny hay,
What do you do? What can you say?
...

Whilst walking through the flowered bed,
swimming over the garden's head,
perchance my eye, glimpsed crimson gold,
among the pedals, in the coral's fold.
...

Down, Down, Down
The Rain
Falls, falls, falls
Peacefully drifting
...

The Sea And The Sand

What great passion the sea exerts, as she crashes into the sand
What love the sand exhibits as he calls, with outstretched hand
Spray rises up and waves crash down, when she races to his side
Then vigorously they embrace each other, knee high in the tide

Despite their wants and wishes, the moment draws to an end
And filled with sorrow, they split apart, until they meet again.
Both struck with adoration for the other, they cannot wait for long
And soon she's seen rushing back, and he calling her along.
