Almost three years, have I known this man
We had distance online so we made a plan
The question was painful, "Do you have a wife? "
His answer, "I do, but I really have no life."
...

There I was happy and free
I sought to be normal
I aimed to be me
No one to blister
...

The profoundness to the saying of what I want to say
"What was I thinking? "
or
"You'll never learn" …
...

Yeah, the man has it all
Good looks
Suave personality
His tongue is smooth
...

No, not mine. His.
Like the "others" he messaged me
Pursued me
Singled me out

Husband

Almost three years, have I known this man
We had distance online so we made a plan
The question was painful, "Do you have a wife? "
His answer, "I do, but I really have no life."

He claimed she was cruel
He claimed that he tried
He said he tried everything
For God's sake HE CRIED!

I listen with ears clogged up with desire
He spoke in a tone that engulfed me in fire
His smooth operation was just like a knife
But he said he loved me, he called me his wife!

Up at all hours, dedicated only to me
Right under their noses being so free
He said God had told him, "It's ok, go seek"
And I drank the poison day after day, week after week

This ‘god' lets a man have one up to four
His god tells him "things" that allow him to score
And those in the wake must submit to the voice
If God hath said it, do we really have a choice?

I ran for the door once, I came to my senses
But after a few months I gazed at the fences
His looked enticing because he spoke lust
The guilt in my heart told me I must

Make this thing "right" so that you can sleep
Don't burn in vain because lust talk is cheap
The godly have values and morals and such
But his god just tells you, "go and do this much.."

I could have stayed sane
I could have been free
But look at me now
There's no fruit on my tree

I still have a husband but he's on a quest
To be who he wants and abandon the rest
He's better at online lover intrigue
And all I am left with is endless fatigue
