2 Am Poem by Midifo Yearns

2 Am

Its two in the morning, you sit all alone
She touches your knee, was that the phone?
‘You’re drunk’ they shout, you whisper ‘am I? ’
Your clothes are all smelly apart from your tie
Its hanging askance on the back of a chair
Bloodshot your eyes, disheveled your hair.

There’s no one there. It’s all in your mind
You open your eyes to find that you’re blind
You reach for the phone, you’ve something to say
But no one is listening, you may as well pray
It’s two in the morning and you’re rather flat
There’s a puddle of urine on the seat where you sat.

It’s two in the morning, time to go home
Your life is now over, no chance still to roam
Full moon is there crying, or is that the rain?
Life’s been a struggle, so much down the drain.
Dream now is ending, you open your eyes
The dawn is just breaking and it’s time to rise.
