.2. Barges Poem by David Threadgold

.2. Barges

Bright painted barges
Strong colours of choosing
Once built for working
From coalmines were cruising

Today most are pleasure craft
For families and pals
But they still use the locks
And the many canals

Life on the canals, what a life.

I lived in Chicago where barges were always seen as a child. They hauled all kinds of stuff. Always wondered how they stayed afloat, they were flat! Good subject. Linda
