.2. Railway Guard Poem by David Threadgold

.2. Railway Guard

Could I have been a railway guard?
In a brake van at the back
Watching as my goods train rolls
To check it holds the track

I’d take the empty coal trucks
To the mines right to the top
And flash my red light when its time
To make the driver stop
