2. Taming The Mad Sumerian Poem by Anand Dixit

2. Taming The Mad Sumerian

Rating: 3.0

Ha ha ha said the mad Sumerian
Running wild in the wild
Biting the sheep, slighting the shepherds
Half man, half god, son of Aruru
Created to bring the king down, and the town
How do you break the Mad Sumerian?

Call for a woman, as beautiful as Ishtar
Said the king, with the signet ring
Then came a dame, with great fame
Whose name could flame the lame
Shamhat, the most alluring woman
How do you tame the Mad Sumerian?

Seven days and seven nights they fought
Seven days and seven nights she taught
Days became nights, nights became days
Heaven on earth, earth on heaven
Mad hush, mad rush, mad flush
The wild Sumerian became a mild Sumerian
