It is written that words are powerful
all can cause an effect upon us
each can cause slight ripples in the pool of reality

It is true that we all have names
given to us when we were born
use it and we can respond to the call
such is their reason for creation

Some words seem to have more power than others
swearing blue fire still seems to shock
even when it's not directed at someone
the religious give names to their deities
and punish those who speak blasphemy upon them
to use their names in vain
is considered profanity of the very soul

Then of course there are so called magic spells
meant to protect or harm
some would refer to them as merely prayers
either for good or ill

Yes words can be magical and holy
each having their own power
but language is changing all the time
phrases may be forgotten
but their effects will remain undiminished
