How can one letter make all the difference?

How can a 4 letter word scare so many?
yet give the hopeless hope, and happiness to the happy less.
Show a future, or shift the present.
How can mind over matter prove faith?

How can so many feel it, yet it still only have one meaning?
a similarity for all, but very few can value its treasure.
like the moon, a friend to the lonely, or the cool breeze on the summers eve.
How can this feeling die away inside, yet leave me fiending for more?
