#309 Three Words Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#309 Three Words

Someway, somehow it’s been two years,
Where has the time gone to?
Just yesterday, holding back the tears,
I pledged my life to you.
In the short time since that day,
I’ve learned a thing or ten.
And I’m no longer afraid to say
I’ll never be the same again.
Each day proves my theory correct and true
With these three words: I need you.

I find myself lost deep in thought,
Thinking how we came to be;
Was it pure chance, a lucky shot,
Or was it just destiny?
It doesn’t matter actually,
What matters is you’re here.
And I wish somehow I could be
With you every second, dear.
When we’re apart all bright colors turn blue
And I feel three words: I miss you.

If I said you make me happy
It’d be an understatement.
You make me feel so light and free,
So comfortable and content.
The future is our good ally,
Bringing much thrill and surprise.
When the cold rain falls from your sky,
I’ll be there to wipe your eyes.
And one day I’ll sum up how 20 years flew
With three simple words: I love you.
