Feet move, feeling comfortably numb,
With head held straight and high.
Each step is like a beating drum,
Each stride like a silken strum.
This song is a soothing lullaby.
The moonlight glows up ahead
As the pathway curves and bends.
Further and further with every tread,
Closer and closer to home and bed,
Supposing home is where it ends.
Twiggs and leaves crunch and crack,
Along the meandering path.
Forward into the blurred and black.
Onward, never able to turn back,
In spite of ire and wrath.
And now a decision must be made,
The path divides unexpectedly.
One is incredible, paved with jade,
The other has dirt casually laid.
The choice is made easily.
Dusty feet move, feeling comfortably numb,
Down a path that makes little sense,
Listening to a beating drum
And listening to a silken strum,
Following familiar footprints.
