38 Days Poem by Vlad Mutuleanu

38 Days

Thirty eight days,
It took us to be together,
Thirty eight days,
Is the streak I came to love,
Thirty eight days,
Was enough to know my love.

The tenth started it all
It was easy, it was funny
Laughing at each other
And for days we kept on going
Trying not to falter.

Then it was eight days
When you had to run away,
It was holidays anew
Yet this time, I had you.

So we spoke for days on end
Saying 'Good Night'
When we went to bed,
When one day you risked it all
Sending a token of your love.

I was surprised, I was bewildered
But I realized
I love her.

And we kept on going strong
Even though we were apart
New Year`s eve, we were away
Yet the next day, we were back.

Our bond grew stronger still
When you returned to me, my dear
And I listened and I cared
And I hugged you in the end.

So, we trusted each other,
We did things together
And my love grew every day
And I hoped yours did the same.

When at last, it was just us
I was scared of failing, I was lost,
But you smiled and laughed
And I knew I had your trust.

So I kissed you once
And I kissed you twice
And I did for a night
When at last, we slept together
In my arms.

And just like that,
Our long streak ended
On January Seventeen
It was our day, it was our night
Because I woke up, to my heart.

So I kissed you one more time
For the journey
We, together, embarked on.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Although I like to keep my poems wide and free to interpretation, this one I cannot have in the same manner. It is meant for a single person, based on the actions undertaken and it is very private and personal and hard to understand if not being part of the process.
