.5. The Test Drive Poem by David Threadgold

.5. The Test Drive

Rich red hide with buttons deep
Between your wings my head will sleep
Arms of oak thick and strong
Hold me in where I belong

Four carved legs that have no motion
Support me well the maker’s notion
Comfy cushions mould my frame
And form a shape that’s much the same

Subtle leather shines so well
Giving forth a polished smell
While I snooze I dream of things
Supported by your leather wings

Arms on arms & face on hide
Snoring deeply mouth so wide
Slightly drooling trail is made
Impressed crease on face may fade

Wide awake now chair well tested
Quite a snooze I feel well rested
But the next I try I’ll take away
Not fall asleep in the window display
