I learned to skate when I was young
On rivers and on lakes
I even skated down the Thames
And mother’s best iced cakes
I skated through the freezer
Got stuck among the peas
I tried to skate inside the fridge
But couldn’t pass the cheese
I skated down a motorway
A thunderstorm had froze
It thawed before my turning
And I landed on my nose
I skated on a duck pond
With rushes either side
I couldn’t get much speed up
Because it wasn’t wide
I knew I’d learned my lesson
When in business I heard twice
Beware my son your pushing it
You’re skating on thin ice
