7 Ways To Handle A Toxic Relationship

Tell yourself that everything is fine.
...(There's nothing wrong here
....and if there was, you would know)
Accept the gifts he gives you
...(after all the things you've been through
....and the things you endured for him)
Put out the match you wanted to burn things with
...(it still doesn't help to
....destroy the things you treasure most)
Crawl back into bed with him
...(to have simple dreams swatted away
....by a complex hand)
Pour him a drink when he asks
...(because he's demanding you
....and because you don't want to)
Tell everyone to buzz off when they see the signs.
...(and all the people know enough
....to see the palm on your cheek)
And live your life normally
...(with extra make up
....hiding the shaming)

poet William Wordsworth

I

I AM not One who much or oft delight
To season my fireside with personal talk.--
