There was a bird in the tree
It had nice plumes and spirit to
Fly up to the sky happy and free
It sang sweet songs of love
And of freedom to fly around
To ground below and sky above
It sang day and night for
Birds who were caged and fed
And to the sky could not soar
One day the bird sang so aloud
That its tiny heart burst open
And it fell dead on the ground
All birds who were caged
Sang song of freedom, broke
Cages and flew away enraged
