A Blessing Poem by Cita Klocksieben

A Blessing

Rating: 2.3

How do you gift those who have almost everything
From fancy cars to dream houses
And everything else that money could buy
Or looks that make them seem
As if they just stepped out of a fashion magazine

They are the social elites
Whose presence everyone covets
But because they must be icons
Are hard-pressed to be beyond reproach

Not much more we can give
Save a prayer and a wish

So to you, the blessed of this world
And to your children and grandchildren
We send you guiding angels
As a token of our prayer for you

For we know it is harder for those like you
To stay in the narrow path
With nary a scratch
'For those who are given much
More is expected.'

May the good Lord almighty forever bless and keep you
And may the Abundant and sustaining God shield, protect and defend you
In all your needs, known and unknown,
In this world and in the next.

And may you never forsake
Those who are less blessed than you
Lest you forget
There is a reason why
They are that way
Their gift is you.
