A Book Poem by Kamal Komal

A Book

i was alone in the corner
pages torn and dust was my only friend
i had stories to tell, and songs to sing
but i dint find any to hear

days, they slipped by
and nights just slept away
how long i was sitting there?
i started to lose the count

And suddenly one day,
i waked in two little hands
and i saw big blue eyes
staring at me with so wonder

we sat there for a while
and she broke our silence with a cry
oh little girl why you cry?
'book, i don't know to read'

i wiped her cheeks with my leaf
and started to sing her a song
then her cry was gone and like the morning sun
A smile rose in her face

her smile turned into giggles
And her laughter filled my heart
when it comes to a child's happiness
you can't ask for anything more

time just fled away, and
the evening pulled her away from me
and i fell from her hands to the dark
i know it was the final goodbye

but i wasn't sad at all
i was happy for the day
as it brought a hope to live
for i will see her again
